

Walter Erwin Owen, A decorated World War II Veteran and Master Electrician/Plumber passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 25, 2023, at the age of 96. Born on July 1, 1926, he lived a life of adventure, service, and dedication to his craft.
During his youth, Walter enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Staff Sergeant in the 307th Regiment of the 77th Division during World War II. He received numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
After the war, Walter returned home and started a family. Sadly, he outlived both his wives, Francis Owen and Elizabeth Owen and all three of his children - Darlene Owen, Walter Owen Jr, and Mary Rowell - Walter remained devoted to his family and loved ones.
Throughout his life, Walter worked as a master plumber and electrician, honing his skills and knowledge in these trades. His work was highly regarded, and he earned a reputation as a trusted and skilled craftsman.
Walter also had a green thumb and enjoyed spending hours in his garden, tending to his plants. He took great pride in his garden and was known for sharing his bountiful harvest with his family and friends.
Walter is survived by his three stepchildren, Charles Sheppard, Edward Sheppard and Cookie Zimont and many grandchildren who will remember him as a kind and loving grandfather who instilled in them a sense of duty, responsibility, and pride in their family's history.
Walter's passing is mourned by all who knew him, but his memory will live on through his legacy of service to his country, dedication, and hard work. May he rest in peace.
