

Born September 10, 1931 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of Major Lee and Bessie Sisk Ramsey.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was a wonderful example of love and truly cared for her family. Betty had retired from the furniture industry where she had worked as a sewer. She enjoyed working in her yard and being outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm “Bud” Houston, whom she wed December 24, 1949; an infant daughter, Mary Sue Houston; a grandson, Tim Ignasiak, Jr.; a son-in-law, Tommy Sigmon; brothers, John, James, Hillard, Bruce and Lester Ramsey; and sister, Dollie Barger.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Sigmon and Andrea Ignasiak and husband, Tim; one son, Darrell Wesley Houston and wife, Lourdes all of Conover; grandchildren, Jason Sigmon and fiancée, Shelly of Bethlehem; Bradley Sigmon and finacée, Stacy of Claremont; Jennifer Walker and husband, George of Mt. Pleasant, NC; Darrick Ignasiak and wife, Jennifer of Winston-Salem; Marlene Valdez of Hickory; Rocky Allen Houston of Conover; great grandchildren, Jalen and Jaxon Walker of Mt. Pleasant, NC; Quinton and Chandler Ignasiak of Conover; Eric and Antonio Ignasiak of Winston-Salem; a sister, Ada Killian of Hildebran, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.
A service of remembrance will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Craig Schultz will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Ramsey, Dean Ramsey, Allen Ramsey, Jimmy Ramsey and Howard Ramsey.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:15 pm prior to the service at the church.
