Bonye Sue (Broady) Bowman

Bonye Bowman, age 72, of Conover, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born Friday, November 10, 1950 to the late Joseph E. Broady and Mary Ruth Broady.

Bonye graduated from East Carolina University with a BA in elementary education and taught kindergarten at Startown elementary.

Her passion was growing and tending to her flower gardens, both in Conover and at Gingercake Acres. Bonye was an active member of the Conover Garden Club for 45 years. She also cherished spending summers at her mountain home in Ginger Cake Acres, NC., where she was energetically involved on various committees and social activities. Bonye enjoyed baking pound pound cakes which she shared throughout the neighborhood.

Those left to treasure her memory are husband of 48 years, Gerald Bowman of the home; son, Kellan Bowman of Conover and numerous family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023, 2:00 pm at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Conover with Rev. Peggy Stout officiating.

The family will receive from 1:00-1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
