

Born July 16, 1931 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Vernon Claude Coulter and Mary Elizabeth Short Coulter. He retired from General Electric in 1993 and was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newton, NC. Charles devoted his life to raising his three children after his wife passed away in 1971. He was a carpenter who built the family home and worked in Startown Community where he was a lifelong resident. Charles loved gardening and was known to help others in any way possible.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,Peggy Brittian Coulter; brother, Bobby Coulter, and sister, Elizabeth Ann Coulter.
Left to cherish his memory are son, Randy Charles Coulter and wife, Angie; daughters, Tonya Coulter Carter and husband, Terry, Julie Coulter Nestor and husband, Keith; sisters, Doris Coulter Hunter, Connie Coulter Rufty; brother, Danal Coulter; grandchildren, Sean Binkley, Tori Binkley, Lacey Myiam, Coulter Beck Nestor, Jonathan Getzinger, Raines, Abby, John, Johann, Bocephus and Peggy Coulter; six great-grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Ralph Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
