

He was born June 12, 1928 to the late Marion Vance “M.V.” Stiles and Mary Ann Wallace Stiles of Gaston County, NC. Dillard was a member of Mt. View Agape Church in Crowders Mtn, NC, and loved playing gospel and bluegrass music. He retired from Carolina Mills after 44 years.
In addition to his parents, Dillard was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lucy Bush Stiles; son, Charles Dillard Stiles, Jr.; brothers, Kenneth Stiles, Harold Stiles, and Junior Stiles; and sister, Shirley Stiles.
Survivors include his son, Marion Stiles and wife, Sherry, of Conover; daughters, Judy Hull and husband, Reverend Robert Hull, of Iron Station, Betty Lovelace and husband, Boyd, of Iron Station, Pam Lowery of High Shoals, and Darlene Lane and husband, Reverend Tim Lane of Hurt, VA; brothers, Marvin Stiles and wife, Frances, of Newton, Carroll Stiles and wife, Carolyn, of Claremont, and Eugene “Gene” Stiles and wife, Alice, of Newton; 12 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.
A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover, NC. Reverend Harry Davis, Reverend Robert Hull, and Reverend Tim Lane will officiate. Burial will follow in the Conover City Cemetery. Charlie Stiles, Derek Stiles, Austin Stiles, Michael Morehead, Frank Ingle, and Ashley Burke will serve as pallbearers; Danny Lane will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Drum Funeral Home in Conover, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Lincoln County: 900 Dontia Drive, Lincoln, North Carolina 28092.
