

Born May 2, 1944 in Catawba County, he was the son of Billie Heavner Sigmon and the late Donald Hugh Sigmon Sr. Donald was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Conover. He previously served in the Army in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict; he loved spending time on the lake, driving his boat, water-skiing, and teaching others to ski. He also enjoyed working in his yard.
In addition to his mother, Donald is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wanda Cloninger Sigmon of Conover; daughters LaDonna Bolton and husband Danny Jr. of Taylorsville and Karen Sigmon-Smith and husband David of Winston-Salem; sisters Sharon Hefner and husband Donald of Taylorsville and Beverly Morrow and husband Leslie of Claremont; grandsons Ethan and Cadyn Bolton of Taylorsville; mother-in-law Helen Cloninger of Claremont; and sister-in-law Glenda Bailey of Claremont.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Birner will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 48.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Cadyn Bolton, Ethan Bolton, Dan Bolton, Charles Huffman, Israel Morrow, and David Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association 222 S Church St, Suite 336-M, Charlotte, NC 27804 or to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6175 St. Peter’s Church Road, Conover, NC 28613.
