

Dorothy “Dot” Brown Little, age 87, of Claremont, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at her residence. Born March 20, 1927 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late John C. Brown and Lillie Catherine Carpenter Brown. Dorothy was a devoted lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont, where she was baptized June 5, 1927. She was a member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the Wednesday Morning Bible Class. Dorothy retired from PemKay Furniture. She devoted her life to her family and enjoyed attending church on Sunday. A wonderful cook and baker, she prepared Sunday lunch for her entire family every week. She was kind, gentle, loving and generous.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Dewey Little; sisters, Mary Sigmon, Myrtle Bolick, Maurene Reed, Nell Cline; brothers, George Brown, Floyd Brown, Clyde Brown, Coyte Brown and Frank Brown.
Survivors include her two daughters, Robin Little of Claremont, Dottie Abernethy of Newton; son, Kip Little of Claremont; grandchildren, Stacey Rhoney and husband, Brad, of Lincolnton, Allyson Howard and husband, Will, of Charlotte, Amber Leinwand and husband, Brian, of Chapel Hill, Christian Moretz of Claremont; great-grandchildren, Barrett Rhoney of Lincolnton, Sophia Rhoney, of Lincolnton, Jackson Howard of Charlotte; brother, Jack Brown and wife, Pearl, of Claremont; sisters-in-law, Mabel Brown of Hickory, Edna Brown of Claremont, and Yvonne Brown of Starke, Florida.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Eric Hollar and Lay Minister Eric Hauss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
