

On December 4, after a lengthy illness, Frank Chapman Reckard Jr., 81, passed from this life to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born in Lowell, Ohio on October 24, 1933 to Frank Chapman Reckard and Louise Allely Reckard. Frank graduated from Wellington High School in Wellington, CO in 1951 and attended CSU for two years before joining the U.S. Navy where he attended Electronics School and served in communications. Frank graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in Geology. He worked for GSI in his early years as an Instrument Engineer locating oil. Later he worked as a Service Field Engineer with IBM, traveling installing and servicing the 9020 Traffic Controllers System. Moving to Conover, NC in 1979, he continued his career with several other computer companies before retiring.
The joy of his life was to love, laugh and play games with his family. He always enjoyed the sweet fellowship at New Life Church where he attended faithfully. He saw beauty everywhere he looked and captured it with his camera and paintings. He was an avid sports enthusiast.
Frank was preceded in death by his father and mother; two sons, Nathan and Russell Reckard; his sister, Peggy, and brother-law, Tom Brown of Ft. Collins, CO; brother-in-laws, Arthur Henneck, formerly of Denver, CO, Ralph Craggs, formerly of Sandy, UT; and nephew Gary Rice, formerly of Ft. Collins, CO.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Arlene Reckard; son, Stanley Reckard and wife, Heidi, of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Korinne Cook and husband, Joshua, of Travelers Rest, SC; daughter-in-law, Wendy Burrell of Lancaster, PA; ten grandchildren, Ryan, Keaton, Kristen, Autumn Reckard of Lancaster, PA, Andrew, Emily, Amy, Kaela, Catherine Reckard of Charlotte, NC, Nolan Cook of Travelers Rest, SC; sister, Janice Rice and husband, Ed, of Ft. Collins, CO, sister, Margie Henneck of Denver, CO; brother and sister-in-law, Shirley and Leroy Grimm of Ft. Collins, CO; sister-in-law, Coy Craggs of Sandy, UT; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, December 05, 2014.
