Helen Louise Bolick Hatley

Born March 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Vasco Bolick and Annie Johnson Bolick. Helen was a life-long member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Hickory. She was a member of Catawba Valley Basketmakers Guild and she and her husband, Raymond, taught basket making at CVCC for many years. The couple also attended Western Square Dances all over the United States. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Atlanta Braves and the Carolina Tarheels.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Raymond Hatley, the love of her life.

Survivors include her son, Joe Hatley, of Conover; daughter, Nancy Miller of Newton; grandchildren, Matt Miller and wife, Staci, of Newton, Penny Miller of Hickory; great-grandchildren, Ricky Miller, Tyler Shuford, Caleb Miller, and Blake Miller; great-great-grandchild, Carter Miller; special friends of family, Tyrone Carson, Megan Arrowood, and Guillermo Lopez-Ruiz.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Roger Beaver and Rev. Betty Helms officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
