Born October 7, 1923 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Bowden Rufus Gibson and Katie Ann James Gibson. He was a member of Word of Truth Assembly in Newton and worked as a machine mechanic in the tire manufacturing industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Dorsey Gibson; sons, Ralph William Gibson and Arthur D. Gibson; and daughter, Elizabeth Virginia Gibson.
Left to cherish his memory are son, James H. Gibson Jr. and wife, Judy, of Maiden; daughters, Margaret Ann Coleman of Millageville, GA and Mary Bowman of Conover; grandchildren, Jackie Coleman, Jason Coleman, Katherine Bowman and Joshua Bowman; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
