Jess Orville “Shorty” Simpson, age 76, of Hickory, NC, formerly of Brenton, WV, passed away peacefully with his loving daughter, Melissa, by his side on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Born March 28, 1944, in West Virginia, the son of the late Mary Ellen Toler Simpson and Lum Simpson of Gilbert, WV.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Gale Simpson; and infant daughter, Sabrina Gale Simpson.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Simpson Sass and husband, Joey, with whom he made his home; brother, James Grimmett of Marianna, WV; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Jess will be remembered for his good nature and love for his family.
In keeping with his wishes, Jess will be cremated.
