John Calvin Coolidge Drum

Calvin Coolidge Drum, age 90, of Newton, NC, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, NC. Born November 22, 1924, in Catawba County, Calvin was the son of the late Lee Barnett Drum and Virgie Mae Cline Drum. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Newton, NC, and had retired after 43 years from Carolina Mills.

In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by his wife Lucille Killian Drum; brothers, Roy Drum, Clifford Drum, and Harold Drum; sisters, Velma Drum Hildebran, Ruth Drum Cromartie, Anna Lee Drum Rich, Flora Roxanne Drum, and Gertrude Minervi Drum.

Survivors include his sons, Darrell Drum and wife Beckie of Maiden, NC, Dean Drum and wife Joyce of Zebulon, NC, and Bradley Drum and wife Terri of Newton, NC; grandchildren, Tyler Drum, Russell Drum, Phillip Drum, Zachary Drum, and Sarah Drum; step-grandchildren, Adam Stephenson, Sean Stephenson, and Tonya Stephenson.

A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Friendship United Methodist Church. Rev. David Hamlyn will officiate and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 AM.
