

Kay Deal, 78, of Conover, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Kay lived a life defined by kindness, service and unwavering love for her family and community.
Born in Taylorsville, North Carolina to the late Melva Chapman Fox and James Harold Fox, Kay dedicated her life to supporting the people and places she cared for most. She enjoyed a distinguished 55-year career with People's Bank, where her leadership, warmth and professionalism led her to retire as Vice President of the Conover Business Center. Her work left a lasting legacy throughout Newton-Conover.
Kay is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Steve Deal; her children, Brad Deal and wife Tammi and Stephanie McClellan and husband David; and her cherished grandchildren, Zack Deal(fiance Anissa), Keaton Deal, Crawford McClellan, Alyona McClellan and Bentley Deal with love also extended to his mother Angie. She is also survived by her sister Penny Bollinger (husband George);her niece, Brandey Lowman ( late husband Cory Lowman); and her great-nephew, Blake Lowman (fiance Gracie).
She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Jamon Deal, whom she loved dearly and missed profoundly.
Kay found her greatest joy in time spent with her family, her neighbors and her sweet puppy, Izzy. Her generous spirit, her love for others and gentle presence touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Kay's life was a testament to loyalty, compassion and quiet strength. Her faith was evident in all aspects of her life. She was a devoted member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Claremont. She will be deeply missed and remembered for ever.
A Funeral Service for Kay will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3216 W Main St, Claremont, NC 28610. Officiating is Rev. Quentin Surace.
Receiving will follow in the family life center immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St , Oxford NC 27565
The family will have a private committal service at Catawba Memorial Park.
