

Born in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Hayden Clemet Shook and Stella Pearline Huffman Shook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Eugene Robert Shook.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Roger Hayden Shook and wife Shirley of Catawba, Keith Jonathan Shook of Catawba, sister Stella Diana Shook Hartis and her husband Phil of Claremont. Nephew Chris Shook and wife Christina, great nephew Hayden Shook, Four-legged best friend Lassie.
Ken worked with the band saw for over 20 years at Oyama Woodworking and building furniture frames at Vanguard Furniture in Hickory, NC
Ken liked woodworking in his spare time as well. He had a knack for making a jewelry boxes and would give them as gifts.
Ken enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He like telling the story of the time he and his Nephew Chris were fishing when Ken reeled in a whopping 6.5-pound bass. Instead of mounting it, it made for a fantastic meal.He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was especially fond of his great nephew Hayden. They would spend time watching old westerns or cartoons. If you asked Ken what kind of tractor was best, he say John Deere without a doubt.
A visitation will be held at Drum Funeral Home in Conover on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2126 St. John's Church Rd., Conover, NC, 28613, on Thursday, July 13 at 3:00 p.m. The graveside committal ceremony will follow immediately afterwards.
