Born May, 27, 1962 in Catawba County, he was the son of Billy “Bill” Garrison Coley, Sr. of Conover and the late Dorcas “Dottie” Gilbert Bolick Coley.
He graduated from Hargrave Military Academy and received a degree in engineering from North Carolina State University. He began his work career at Siecor in Hickory, where he met his wife and best friend Bondi. In 1998 he started working for Lee Industries as a Sales Representative for Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. His love for duck and goose hunting grew to new levels as he spent many days with family and friends in farm fields across the eastern shore.
In 1995, Norman moved back to Conover to work in the family business. As President of Lee Industries his vision, guidance, leadership and passion took Lee to be one of the finest upholstery manufacturers in the world. He served his community in many ways both anonymously and in leadership roles.
Norman enjoyed spending time on the lake, in the mountains and on his farm. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his boys, Bo and Decker.
