Rachel Brooks Sharpe Ervin

Rachel Brooks Sharpe Ervin, resident of Catawba, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Taylorville, NC. Born May 29, 1926, in Alexander County, she spent her life taking care of others. She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother. Rachel was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Catawba, NC, and was a homemaker and had retired from the hosiery industry.

Rachel was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ivey and Eva Hines Sharpe, her husband, Harvey Gough Ervin, two sons, Robert Lee Ervin and Garry Lynn Ervin, and one grandchild, Jeffrey Ervin.

Rachel will be missed by her children, Eugene Ervin and wife Janice of Catawba, NC, Patricia Inman and husband Bud of Claremont, NC, and Joyce Hedrick of Catawba, NC; brothers, Haskel Sharpe and wife Rachel of Catawba, NC, and Jerry Sharpe and wife Maria, of Claremont, NC. She was adored by her grandchildren, Jody Ervin, Michael Hedrick, Shannon Sigmon, Candie Hedrick, Chris Ervin, Brandon Ervin, and Natalie Inman. Her great-grandchildren Mercades Hedrick, Sydney Inman, Alicia and Carley Sigmon, Nathan and Nicholas Ervin will hold her dear.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Catawba, NC, with Rev. Greg Alms officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 PM on Monday in the Parrish Hall of the church prior to the service.
