Born January 31, 1957, he was the son of the late Lester William McCurry and Bettie Southerland. Steven was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Phyllis Darlene McCurry, and a brother, Donnie McCurry.
Left to cherish his memory is daughters, Sherry Wakefield of Conover and Melonie McCurry of Browns Summit; sons, Ryan McCurry of Conover and John Wakefield of Claremont; grandchildren, Cheyenne McCurry, Ryylin McCurry, Bryan Warren, Taylor Warren, Casey Wakefield, Jonathan Wakefield, Aaliyah Wakefield, Brent Oxendine; step-grandchildren, Dalton Oxendine, Mia Moss, and Skilyer Brewer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 4:45 prior to the service.
