Thomas Jefferson Jones, age 81, of Conover, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Brian Center in Viewmont. He was the son of the late George Jones and Layuna Davis Jones. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Hickory and was an evangelist for 25 years all over North Carolina. He enjoyed singing and playing gospel music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dollie Yelton Jones;
brother, Jason Jones, half-brother, Robert Laws; sisters, Maude Brewster, Faye Hammett, and Birdell Clarke.
Thomas is survived by his brother, Lawrence Jones and wife, Grace, of Conover; half-brothers, Milton Laws of Bakersfield, Mosie and Doris “Dot” Laws of Bethlehem; sister-in-law, Judy Laws of Hickory; and many nieces and nephews.
A Service of Rememberance will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Rev. Kenny Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
