Valrie Kay Underwood

Valrie Kay Underwood, age 56, of Hickory, NC passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born December 27, 1957 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Hillard Wilson and Helen Mae Gibson Underwood.

She was a longtime member of Tri-City Baptist Church and was a manager at Convergys. Valrie was an avid Duke fan, she loved Larry Bird (the basketball player for the Boston Celtics); and also loved cats and horses.

Survivors include her cousins, Kenneth Underwood and wife, Carolyn of Newton, Wayne Hamrick of Shelby, Donna Graham of Shelby, numerous cousins, and her close friends.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014 at Drum Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dr. Hugh Whitfield will officiate and burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends and family.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., prior to the service.
