Wanda L. Lewis

Born Jan 15, 1936 in Catawba, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Leatherman and Esther Pope Leatherman Goble and stepfather Clarence Goble. Wanda was a lifelong caregiver and worked for many years at Catawba Valley Rest Home then worked as an in-home caregiver into her 70’s.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Dwight Wayne Leatherman and Baby Sherrill; sister, Sylvia Bryan; and brother, Paul Leatherman.

She is survived by beloved husband Billy Junior Lewis of the home; daughters, Debbie Watts of Hickory, Tracy Henderlight (Jerry) of Corryton TN, Karen Kirkland (Greg Gilfilen) of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Misty Daugherty of Hildebran, Joshua Watts (April) of Hildebran, Eric Kirkland (Rachel) of Newton, Rocky Kirkland (Natalie) of Conover; 7 great grandchildren; stepchildren, Sam Lewis (Crystal), Betty McKinney (Terry); step grandchildren, Kelli, Brent, Hank, Justine, Selena, Lane, Nikki, Tiffany; beloved nieces and nephews; and many loved ones she considered family.

A memorial service is scheduled at Drum Funeral Home Conover on Sat Jan 31 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dewayne Pearson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
