William "Bill" Richard Parkhurst

William “Bill” Richard Parkhurst, age 89, passed away at his home on Monday, January 19, 2026. Bill was born in Catawba County on Friday, January 24, 1936 to the late Charles Nye Parkhurst and Eula Sigmon Parkhurst.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Parkhurst and son, Richard Parkhurst.

Bill loved and cherished his family. He was an amazing husband and father. He loved to work on all mechanical things and there was not much he could not fix. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going fishing whenever he could. Bill was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and he was the first acolyte at the church.

Those left to cherish Bill’s memory are his wife, Mary Ann Campbell Parkhurst; daughter, April Layne (Tony); brother, Jerry Parkhurst (Della); sister, Pat Eckard; grandchildren, Richard Matthews, Autumn Layne, Chad Layne, Aaron Layne (Ashley); and great grandchild, Ezra Arcuri.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2126 St John’s Church Rd NE, Conover, NC 28613.

A Funeral Service for Bill will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Anton Lagoutine officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Preschool, 2126 Saint John’s Church Rd NE, Conover, NC 28613.
