

The family of Billy Gene Edwards is saddened to announce his passing on December 30, 2024 at the age of 93 years, in Conroe, Texas. Bill was born in Hattieville, Arkansas, on August 27, 1931, to Homer and Josephine Edwards. He was one of three children.
Bill grew up in Hattieville, Arkansas and graduated from Wonderview High School. Three years after graduation, Bill joined the United States Navy, Sea Bees division. He served active duty for four years and an additional four years in the reserves.
Bill married Pauline in June of 1957 and was married for 67 years. He got his private pilot's license and enjoyed taking local trips with his family. He loved to do woodwork in the shop, hunt and fish and took pride in his garden always weighing how large his tomatoes grew. He had a love for golf and looked forward to playing with several friends on a regular basis. He was the videographer for the family and almost always had a camcorder. He especially loved to bring it out at family events while everyone had their mouths full of food. He was passionate about studying the history of the bible and loved to gather for bible study on a weekly basis. Bill and Pauline enjoyed traveling yearly with family and saw all 50 states, pulling their RV to 49 of them. He always had a sweet tooth and had his vanilla ice cream daily.
Bill worked and retired from Harris County Flood Control. After retirement, he continued to enjoy all his own hobbies, but also loved to attend and support all 6 of his grand children's sports and hobbies. Many core memories for his kids and grandkids involve going to the beach, making homemade ice cream, fishing, gardening and making homemade salsa, as well as working in the shop and spending every Saturday morning eating breakfast together.
He is survived by his wife Pauline, daughter Debbie, daughter in law Christina, grandchildren; Amber and husband Ricky, Kelby and wife Lauren, Kaylin and husband Michael, Brittany, Ashlynn and husband Ethan, Tyler and wife Amanda and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Homer and Josephine, and two siblings; Waymon (Red) and Maxine, along with his son Greg.
Billy (Bill) also known as dad and papa will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life for Billy will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 beginning at 4:30pm at Trail of Life Cowboy Church 16455 FM-1484, Conroe, TX 77303.
