Dana was born May 20, 1962 in Austin, Texas and passed away October 27, 2010 at her home in Willis, Texas. Our precious Dana filled our lives with so much joy and happiness. She bore a heavy load with the tragic passing of her daughter, Cori, 12 years ago, but the manner in which she carried her burden gave great inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Dana realized her dream of owning her own business, Lures Icehouse, in partnership with her sister and best friend, Jill and her husband Dennis. She made the business a success because she was truly a people person. She had a passion for Crystal Beach and spent many happy days and nights with her lifelong friend, Loretta. She was quick to find 8 hours to watch Lonesome Dove and sought a “Gus” in her life and in the last 4 months of her life she found a man who embodied that spirit. In the last year and a half preceding her untimely passing, she realized the happiness and fulfillment that had been missing in her life.
Dana was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Callaway, and daughter, Cori Callaway. She is survived by her mother, Sandra Burns Hickman of Austin; father, Mack Hickman and wife Kimberly of Austin; sister, Jill Chatman and husband Dennis of Willis; aunts and uncles, Carole Martin, Cindy and Bill Silvis and Morris Hickman; nieces, Kaci and Cody Alexander; cousins, Jenna and Alexa Moreland; and special friends, Loretta Felder and Larry LaCaze. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. You are invited to leave condolences for the family on our website at www.cashnerconroe.com.
