Delwin was born on February 16, 1942 in Eustace, Tx. to Roy F. Rolison and Ora Lee (Harrington) Rolison. Roy and Ora Lee moved their young family to Houston, Tx. in 1944 where Delwin lived his entire life. On July 9, 1977 Delwin married the love of his life Joy E. (Riddles) Rolison. Together with their combined 7 children from previous marriages, Del and Joy raised their family in a happy and stable home where all of the children were loved by both parents. He graduated from Galena Park High School in 1961.
Delwin is survived by his children Kenneth (Duane) Cherry and wife Christy of The Woodlands, Tx, Raymond Rolison and wife Yong of Conroe, Tx, Kelley Large and husband Joe of Richmond, Tx, Kimberly Green of Jacksonville, Fl, Dawn Cazzell and husband Brian of Noblesville, In, and Daryl Rolison of San Antonio, Tx. Sisters Geraldine Fleck and husband Marcus of Del Norte, Co. and Betty Kopecky and husband Lonnie of Wimberly, Tx. He also is survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Joy Rolison, daughter Rhonda Caraway, parents Roy F. and Ora Lee Rolison, and brother Roy L. Rolison.
Delwin was a machinist by trade and was highly regarded as one of the best machinists in the fabrication industry throughout the Greater Houston area. After his retirement, many of his former employers would consult and seek his advice regarding projects they were working on.
Del loved working with his hands and had many hobbies and interests, but, he got the most enjoyment from clockmaking.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 – 8 pm on Thursday May 19, 2022 at Metcalf Funeral Home 1801 E. White Oak Terrace in Conroe, Tx. There will be a celebration of his life at 11 am on Friday May 20, 2022 in the Metcalf Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Neal Cooper presiding.
Delwin will be laid to rest next to his wife Joy at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Ok on Saturday May 21, 2022.
The family will be welcoming close friends and relatives to a reception following the service.
