Earlene was born January 27, 1947, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to Louise and Raymond Golden.
She attended Dickinson High School in Dickinson, Texas where she was a flag twirler. Earlene was a stewardess for Eastern Airlines, but the job she loved most was volunteering for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. In 2003, she became a Life Member of the Show and joined the Horspitality Committee and served for 18 years. Joining the Area Go Texan Committee in 2007, was a very moving experience for Earlene. She served as the Live Oak County Ambassador for 3 years and her leadership skills earned her the prestigious “Ambassador Rookie of the Year Award”. Advancing to become an Assistant District Chairman for 3 years put Earlene on Cloud 9! In 2020 she became a Lifetime Committeeman. Earlene was extremely passionate about the HLSR and nothing brought her more joy than getting to introduce her grandkids to all her rodeo friends each year.
In her spare time, she loved to fish, play slot machines, and mostly lottery scratch off tickets. She loved volunteering, traveling, trail rides, and cookoffs.
Earlene is survived by her husband Wayne Dyer, her brother’s and their spouses Berton and Ellen Marie Golden, and Raymond Golden; her daughter and her husband Tammy and Welton Whitley; her step sons and their wives, Jack and Christi Dyer, Brian and Heather Dyer; grandchildren, Jake Williford and his Fiancé Taylor Tunstall, Ashtin Williford, and Story Williford; step grandchildren and their significant other, Megan and Adam Driskell, Keith Wayne Dyer, Caylee Dyer, and Hailey Causey, Riley Causey, Addyson Causey, Roger Whitley, and Jonathan Whitley; nieces Lori and Anna Laura Golden; nephews and their wives Dennis and Adria Golden and Danny Golden; plus great grandchildren Lucasey Driskell and Averleigh Driskell; great nephews Jayden Golden Selph and Nicholas Golden.
