Ethel Mae Newland, a beloved and kind-hearted soul, passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Houston, Texas, on January 12, 1942, Ethel was known for her adventurous spirit and compassionate nature. She resided in Conroe, Texas, where she touched the lives of many with her generosity and warmth.
Ethel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn R. Newland. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Gilbert Randolph, and her husband, Chuck. Her grandchildren, Christopher Gilbert, Tyler Randolph, and Kyle Mozisek, along with her honorary grandson, Bryan Arnette, will forever cherish her memory. Ethel was surrounded by other special family members and close friends who were dear to her heart.
Ethel had a zest for life that was evident in her personal interests and hobbies. She loved going out to eat, always on the lookout for good restaurants, no matter how far she had to drive. Shopping and collecting antiques were among her favorite pastimes, as well as taking drives in the country. Ethel enjoyed going on cruises with her husband, Glenn, and had a deep affection for her cat, Slinkey. She was known for her love of wildlife, often feeding the deer, foxes, raccoons, squirrels, and even the occasional cat that visited her yard.
Her compassion extended to her community, where she enjoyed volunteer work at Something Special and Bridgewood Farms. Ethel's presence was a beacon of kindness and joy, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on February 17, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Cashner Funeral Home, located at 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. A funeral service will follow from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the same location. The committal service will take place at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Rd, Conroe, TX 77303, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
