Fred Watters was born to Ola Gurtrue (Rosenbaum) Watters and Fred F. Watters on December 24, 1933 in Bois d’Arc, Arkansas and passed away on May 26, 2024 at his home in Panorama Village, Montgomery County, Texas at the age of 90. He left this world peacefully and surrounded by loving family members.
Fred grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Hope High School in 1952. He helped his family on the farm and all throughout his life would have a special interest in farm life. He especially enjoyed operating farm equipment.
Fred served our country in the United States Army in the mid 50s followed by a career in the Houston Fire Department until his retirement. He earned awards in the military and was promoted to Captain in the fire department. Following his retirement, he owned and operated his own 18-wheeler truck taking loads nationwide.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Emily Louise (Cooksey) Watters, children Timothy Cooper and wife Michelle; Michael Watters and wife Vicky; Debra (Watters) Thomas and husband, Dennis; Todd Cooper and wife Adrianna; Tammy Cooper; Gay (Watters) Dally and husband Tom; Trey Cooper and wife Gina; and, ; 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Fred embraced life and opportunities to learn new things. He was a hunter, a fisherman, a golfer, and a welder, to mention a few. He liked working with his hands and did all things with passion and precision. He was truly loved and will be truly missed.
A visitation for Fred will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Cashner Colonial Chapel with graveside to follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
