Grandma Jo Heldmann

It is with sorrow for the loss of their matriarch and with joy for Christ’s gift of eternal life that the family announces the passing of Emma Jo Heldmann. Mrs. Heldmann was born on Earth on August 5, 1943, in Lufkin, Texas, and was born into eternal life on September 25, 2019, in The Woodlands, Texas.

She was a graduate of Bellaire High School and attended Stephen F. Austin University. On November 27, 1965, Jo married Darwood Heldmann. During her 54 years of marriage, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cheerleader, and loyal and supportive coach’s wife.

Jo will be greatly missed by her husband, Darwood Heldmann; daughter, Darla Ann Dennis; granddaughters, Lauren Wilks (Blake), Emily Dennis, and Leann Dennis; great-grandchildren, Paisley Grace Wilks and Tuk Scott Wilks; along with countless current and former student athletes and their families whose lives are forever enriched through Jo’s love and unwavering support.

A visitation is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, September 30, 2019, at Crossroads Baptist Church to be followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Jo will be laid to rest at Garden Park Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Kidney Fund in Jo’s name.
