Hugh Roland Spencer

Hugh Roland Spencer passed away on February 7, 2016 in Carrollton, TX at the age of 90. Hugh was born on February 21, 1925 in Roanoke, VA to Edith and Alfred Spencer. Hugh is survived by his daughter, Laura Love and husband Ken of Spring, TX, and son, Kevin Spencer and wife, Dee Ann of Carrollton, TX, grandchildren, Nick Roppolo and wife, Angie of St. Louis, MO, Jason Roppolo and wife, Mary of Spring, TX, Kyle Spencer of Fayetteville, AR, and Courtney Spencer of Carrollton, TX, great grandchildren, Marissa, A.J., Jacen, & Ivan Roppolo of St. Louis, MO, Della Roppolo and Hayden Warner-Roppolo of Spring, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 59 ½ years, Della Mae Griffith-Spencer, and son, David Alfred Spencer. Hugh joined the Navy and was stationed in Conroe, TX, where he met and married Della Mae Griffith on January 13, 1945. He graduated from Virginia Southern College in 1949 with a degree in Accounting. He went to work for Superior Oil Company in Houston as an accountant. He retired in 1984 after 38 years of service. Hugh and Della attended Conroe Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon. He was well loved by his family and was known as Dad, Daddy, Pops, Gandy, and PaPa. He answered to them all. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 12:30pm in Garden Park Cemetery (801 Teas Rd Conroe, Texas 77303) with Pastor Steve Yates officiating.
