

James “Jim” Alan Helmink, born on May 12, 1953, passed away on May 20, 2017, at the age of 64. Jim was a selfless, loving and devoted father and husband. He was a brave and valiant warrior who fought his battle with cancer until the very last day. He was a treasured employee and tremendous leader formally employed at Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals for 38 years. He was indoctrinated into the Central Michigan Hall of Fame for basketball, with the distinguished honor of being an NCAA championship player. He was a fiercely loyal friend to those he loved and was immensely generous to so very many over his lifetime. Heaven celebrates a new and beautiful angel –Our beloved Jim Helmink. Jim is survived by his wife, Stephanie, son, Holden Helmink, daughter, Chloe Helmink, mother, Shirley Visser Helmink, father, Cecil Helmink, sister, Diane Helmink Wertz and husband Jim, and brother, Douglas Helmink and wife Mary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jim’s honor to the “Azlynn Noelle Children’s Home” in India.
