Joe Ann Scott of Pearland, Texas age 85, passed away peacefully at her Belmont Senior Village home in Houston Texas on June 14, 2022 after a lengthy illness. She was the former wife of the late Aubrey Page.
Joe Ann was born in Sinton, Texas January 4, 1937 and attended Sinton High School participating in their school music program and graduating with the class of 1955. She and her family later moved to Cleveland, Texas, eventually settling in Houston. She attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas where she enjoyed courses in art, music and dance. She met Aubrey at Southwestern and she began her married life in Austin working as a clerk for the Dean of the University of Texas. Upon her retirement in 2013, Joe Ann moved to Pearland to be closer to her Brother David “Butch” Scott and her nieces and nephew. She was surrounded and loved by dear friends and neighbors in the Country Place/Country Grove senior development where she spent the last years of her life until moving into the Belmont Village Assisted Living Community.
She was a homemaker, a fabulous cook, a devoted Mother to her two children, and beloved Sister and Aunt to her brother and brothers children. She extended her love and talent for teaching and caring for children through her work with the Tiny Tots program with the Austin Parks and Recreational Center, her work as a classroom teacher’s aide with the Eanes Independent School District, and by providing after school childcare through the Extend-a-Care program for the Austin Public Elementary Schools.
She enjoyed cooking, travel, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family and friends. Fun times were watching golf on Sundays with her brother Butch and his wife, Pat, creating original leather-works, painting scenes of nature, country western dancing, a cruise to Alaska, a trip to Hawaii, attending concerts and making the most wonderful brownies for the many family get-togethers she enjoyed. Joe Ann joined the Eastern Star, Austin, Chapter to help inspire good in the world. They are the tenants of truth, loyalty and kindness through charitable and benevolent projects. She will be especially missed by her four- legged friend Chico.
