Margaret Ann Risinger Stone passed away at home October 4, 2022. She was born in Dallas, Texas to R.L. and Charlotte Risinger December 15, 1924, where she grew up with her brothers Bill, Dennis and Bob, and her sister Nell, who was also her best friend and confidant.
Margaret attended Hillcrest Baptist Church where she met her husband Alvin, and they were married on June 26, 1943. After following “Squeegee” (Alvin’s nickname) from Army base to Army base during WWII, they returned to Texas. For the next 60 years, Margaret was a devoted and supportive pastor’s wife, as well as mother and homemaker.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Alvin, as well as her daughter Sherrie and son Stephen, both of whom battled Cystic Fibrosis. She is survived by her daughter Janie and grandsons Cory and Cody, along with her sister Nell, brothers Dennis and Bob, daughter-in-law Susan Ganther and her husband, as well as many nieces and nephews who knew her best as “Aunt Shorty.”
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at First Montgomery Baptist Church at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at Metcalf Funeral Home from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Mom would greatly appreciate donations made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
