Milt Villoutreix Brown, our loving Momma, Nana, Nana Banana, of Crockett, Texas, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 and has gone to her heavenly rest. Milt was deeply loved by her friends, family, and community, known for her warm smile, infectious laugh, generous heart and the profound love she had for her family.
Milt was born on January 7, 1939, in Jonesville, LA to Charlie Newton Beard and Loula Frances Broussard Beard. She graduated from Vidalia High School in 1957 and attended business college in Baton Rouge, LA. It was in Mississippi that she met Mike Villoutreix, whom she married in 1959. Following Mike’s career, Milt loved living in and traveling to many places, including France, Kenya, and Malta. However, Texas was always home.
After Mike passed away, Milt married Elwin Brown. After retiring from her over 20 year career at Neiman Marcus, Milt and Elwin moved to Crockett, TX, where Milt’s dream of living in the country came true. She loved everything about her life in Crockett. She volunteered at the food bank, learned to quilt, and made many wonderful friends at her church, St. Francis de Tejas and in her neighborhood .
Milt loved being outside, working in her garden, fishing, and feeding her chickens, ducks, quail, and even a guinea or two. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought much pride and joy to her life. She loved to cook and entertain her family and friends. Milt enjoyed making the lives of those she cared about easier.
She is survived and dearly missed by her four amazing children: son Andre and his wife Teri Villoutreix, Charles and his wife Diane Villoutreix, daughter Mimi and her husband John Cullinan, and Monique and her husband Paul Prado.
She leaves behind eight wonderful grandchildren: Ryan and his wife Febe Prado, Alex Prado, Julia and her husband Sam Evans, Kylie Cullinan, John and his wife McKenzie Cullinan, Charles and his wife Lauren Villoutreix, Kaitlin Villoutreix and fiancé Thomas LaPointe, and Philip and his wife Stephaine Villoutreix. She also leaves behind eight sweet great-grandchildren: Charlotte and Lincoln Prado, Hunter, Dixie and McKenzie Villoutreix, Jamie , Sawyer and Penny Evans. As well as her sisters: Mary Linnie Gass of Alexandria, LA, Sister-Ruby King of Monticello, MS, Ruth Beard of Monterey, LA, and Christine Beard of Conroe, TX. Her family will continue to honor her memory by living their lives guided by kindness.
She is reunited in heaven with her husbands Mike Villoutreix and Elwin Brown, parents Charlie and Loula Beard; brothers CD Beard and Jimmy Beard; sisters Sharon Ann Morace, Peaches Beard, and "Pud" Cannon.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home with a reception immediately following.
