Born on February 14, 1946, in Center, Texas, to Dan and Margaret Puswell, Nancy grew up in Cleveland, Texas, where she spent her childhood before leaving for college in the early 1960s. A proud graduate of Cleveland High School in 1964, Nancy was an active member of the school’s band and a twirler. She was honored to be named CHS Homecoming Queen and crowned Miss Cleveland during her high school years.
Nancy went on to attend Sam Houston State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business degree. It was at Sam Houston that she met the love of her life, Andy. They married in 1967, while still in college, and spent 57 wonderful years together, creating a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.
After college, Nancy and Andy briefly lived in Connecticut before returning to Texas. Nancy’s love for children led her to a fulfilling career in education. She began as a kindergarten teacher at Heritage Christian Academy, where she touched the lives of many students. She later became a Montessori teacher and then a pre-kindergarten educator at the School for Little Children in Kingwood.
In her mid-40s, Nancy began an exciting new chapter as a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines. Over the next 25 years, she would become a beloved member of the Southwest family, earning numerous awards for her exceptional service. She took great pride in her work and treasured the relationships she built with her colleagues and passengers.
Nancy’s family was the heart of her life. She and Andy raised two children, Andrea and Lance, and built a strong, close-knit family that valued tradition, love, and support. As a mother, Nancy was the cornerstone of their family, instilling in her children the importance of honoring family and creating lasting memories through reunions and celebrations. She was also known as ‘Mom’ to many others beyond her own children and ‘Nana’ to her four beloved grandchildren: Andrew, Ava, Harper, and Landon. She found joy and fulfillment in her role as matriarch, spiritual guide, teacher, and friend.
Nancy's life was a beautiful example of love, grace, and service. She showed us all the importance of family, faith, and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. Her deep walk with Christ was at the center of everything she did, and she was a devoted witness to His love, always striving to lead others to Him through her actions, kindness, and words. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. As she now joins her beloved Andy in the presence of the Lord, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
Nancy is survived by her children, Andrea and Lance; her grandchildren, Andrew, Ava, Harper, and Landon; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her.
Rest in peace, Nancy. You are deeply loved and will be greatly missed, but your legacy of love, kindness, faith, and dedication to Christ will continue to inspire us all.
