I had Mrs. Thrasher in the 4th grade back in the 70's. She was a wonderful teacher and so nice. I remember we wrote letters to one of her family members in the Vietnam War. She had such an impact on me!!! very sorry to hear she has passed, my condolences to your Family.

Ms. Thrasher was my 4th grade teacher at Anderson back in the early 80's, and was one of my very favorite teachers of all time. She truly cared about her students, and loved teaching! One of my favorite memories is of her reading aloud to us every day. We would all be silent and get lost in the story she read. Then, at the end of the book, she had a day where we could come dressed as the characters in the book. Great memories of a wonderful lady. She will be missed. Heartfelt prayers go out to her family and loved ones.

So many of my fondest childhood memories took place in Conroe at Aunt Nancy and Uncle Dale’s  home.  I always looked forward to going to visit them. There was laughter and love in their home. 

I eventually became a teacher too and  I remember listening to Aunt Nancy talk about her students with such respect. She seemed to genuinely want to understand and know her students. This had a huge impact on me and now I seek to build a culture of love and acceptance in my own classroom. 

Aunt Nancy was also a faithful prayer warrior for Drew. She often would donate to NBIA Disorders Association in his honor. I think she knew how hard it is to see your child suffer and I will always appreciate her desire to help find a cure. 

I am blessed to be a part of a family with strong women. I can’t imagine her utter delight at seeing her sweet girls and beloved husband Sunday morning when she entered heaven. 

Nancy Thrasher, my sister, lived life well!  Although challenged by health issues, she finished well!  She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend.  Family meant serving them.  Nancy opened her heart, home and arms to everyone.  Archie and I both crashed on her doorway when single and needy.  She taught me so much but I didn’t learn very quickly.  At 83 I still wish I was like  Nancy.

After Dale’s service in the Army they bought a home in South Houston and started a family.  Don and I were newly-weds.   When their sweet Susan Jan suffered through leukemia and died, we thought we grieved as much as they did.  We knew we had not when we had our two daughters.

I yearned to be a good mother like our mother, Eula, and like Nancy.  I never excelled in the patience and kindness I observed.  When our girls reached school age I decided to get a degree in Elementary Education and Nancy joined me.  

When Nancy and Dale moved to their six acres  near Conroe they  brought our parents from Shreveport to live there by them  Their place became the gathering place for the Robertson family.  Nancy also opened her home annually to her class for a day of fun and food.

I watched Nancy encourage Lisa and Larry through their education , their careers, their marriages and their children.  Grandchildren were loved and accepted with Nancy’s unconditional love.  Her voice and influence will affect them all their days.

After Nancy and Dale  retired they began a daily practice of reading through the Bible aloud together.  They didn’t announce it.  I caught them one morning when I visited.  Don and I do that now following their great example.

I have watched Larry and Julie follow Nancy and Dale’s example of serving family.  When Nancy became ill and prone to falls, they sold their home  and have lived in a mobile home by her home to care for her.  Larry showed kindness and patience  he had learned from his parents.  



What I remember most about Aunt Nancy was that she had the most wonderful laugh. In the family gatherings, of which she was most often the hostess, she was happily cooking for a crowd and smiled and laughed through all the work. 

I also thought she was a great wife because she got up to send Uncle Dale off  to work in the wee hours of the morning. I thought to myself, I would be too lazy to do that. 

I loved all the time spent playing with the cousins through the years and I’m glad Nancy is in heaven right now reunited with Dale, Jan, Lisa, Memaw and Granddaddy.
