Born on May 3, 1928, in Mineola, Texas, Neil demonstrated a remarkable dedication to both his personal and professional life.
In his early years, Neil was a star running back at Troy High School. His passion for education and athletics led him to attend Texas Wesleyan and Southwest Texas, now known as Texas State. He earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Texas Tech. Neil's commitment to coaching spanned 20 years, during which he led teams in Troy, New Deal, Hamlin, Seminole, and Andrews. His excellence in coaching was recognized when he was named Texas Coach of the Year.
Beyond his coaching career, Neil served as Vice President of American Amicable and was an entrepreneur and business owner. His talents extended to the world of golf, where he was celebrated as a World Golf Amateur Champion.
Neil was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Laminack; his mother, Barnie Laminack; his first wife, Doris Snyder Laminack; his brother, R.F. Laminack; his sisters, Sybil and Frances; and his son, Rick Laminack.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gayle Laminack; his son, Randy Laminack and wife Lynne; his daughters, Ann Laminack Bruno and husband Bobby and Lynn Laminack Strait and husband BD; stepsons JP Villere and wife Renee and Denis Villere and wife Leslie along with 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and other family members and friends who treasure his memory.
A visitation will be held at Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas, on December 27, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at the same venue, starting at 11:00 am.
