Nelda Hairston

Nelda Hairston was born October, 18, 1941 in Lufkin, Texas to Milton Cemore Vaughan and Trudie Gustine Cheatham Vaughan, and went to her Heavenly Home on September 19, 2015 in The Woodlands, Texas at the age of 73.

Nelda was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She enjoyed baking, reading, quilting, fishing, playing cards, and traveling. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alson Frederick Hairston, and two brothers, James Milton Vaughan and Bobby Laird Vaughan. Nelda is survived by her son, Rick Hairston and wife Mary; daughters, Susan May and Liz Hurst and husband Clark; sisters Linda Fisher Marshall and husband Ramsey and Sheila Smith and husband Nathan; grandchildren Keith Hairston and wife Amber, Chris Hairston and wife Christina, Jessica May, Brian May and wife Cassie, Chelsea Hairston, Olivia Hurst, Grayson Hurst, and Lucy Hurst; great grandchildren, Avery Hairston, Brayden Hairston, Wyatt Hairston, Devin Hairston, and Molly Rooks.

Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303, on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be at the Grace Family Fellowship, 12615 Cude Cemetery Road, Willis, Texas 77318, at 11 am with Pastor David Riley officiating. Burial will be in the Bluewater Cemetery in Livingston, Texas at 3:30 pm. Pallbearers for the service will be: Keith Hairston, Chris Hairston, Brian May, Grayson Hurst, Jimmy Vaughan, Bobby Griggs, and Charles Griggs.
