Patricia McMahan Chambers was born August 12th, 1938, in Mathis, Texas and passed on May 5th, 2025, in Conroe, Texas. Patricia leaves behind her beloved husband, Carroll Chambers, her sister Joyce Ann McMahan French, and brother Jim Lee McMahan. Patricia dearly loved her children, Judson Somerville, MD, Scott Bowman, Esq., Brooks Bowman, his wife Carmen, Morty Chambers, his wife Jackie, and Stacy Chambers. She was beloved by her grandchildren Madison Somerville, Hannah Asaff, David Bowman, Brandon Bowman, Elizabeth Bowman, Resha Bowman, and Cody Bowman. She will also be greatly missed by her four nieces. Trish was preceded in death by her grandson Chad Bowman and her parents, Luther William McMahan and Marguerite Anderson McMahan, and siblings Morris, John Thomas, and Marian McMahan.
Trish grew up in Beeville, Texas, the daughter of a hard-working rancher father and loving mother. A proud sixth-generation Texan, Patricia devoted much of her time and energy to researching her genealogy, which includes a relation to Texas hero Sion R. Bostick, one of three soldiers who captured General Santa Anna after the Battle of San Jacinto during the Texas Revolution.
Trish was an incredibly intelligent woman who valued education. She graduated with honors from A. C. Jones High School in Beeville, Texas and was the first student to be awarded an A+ in the school’s history. Trisha went on to receive her bachelor’s degree psychology summa cum laude from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree in psychology cum laude from The University of Houston. She used her knowledge of psychology to champion women, working tirelessly to help her clients overcome personal obstacles as a licensed counselor in the Conroe area.
Patricia worked as a secretary in Cocoa Beach, Florida, for the NASA Apollo astronauts who visited the moon. Trish was amazing, no matter what life threw at her. While a secretary to the Apollo astronauts, a job she loved, she drove a sporty MGB and gave tours to celebrities, including William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk on Star Trek. Once, some royalty from Africa visited, and she borrowed a plastic toy lion to put on the moon so when the simulator flew around, there was a lion on the moon.
Patricia and Carroll enjoyed each other’s company immensely, traveling all over the globe together and visiting the four corners of the world. Much of her travel involved her love of genealogy and the search to connect with her ancestors. Trisha spent many years assisting Carroll at his State Farm Agency, helping make it one of the most successful branches in the world. Trisha was a devoted wife to Carroll and was never apart from him for long.
Trisha was known for encouraging those around her to be their very best, encouraging them to work hard to achieve their dreams. She pushed her sons to be amazing, and they were all successful in their individual fields. Trish was a giver, a very bright star in her family, and she loved everyone. She was a mentor, example, and champion to many people, not only in her family but also to many friends and loved ones.
Patricia will be remembered as a wonderful, happy, sophisticated woman who made everyone feel important. Now that she has passed, her loved ones believe she will continue to watch over them from above, just like her toy lion on the moon.
