She is survived by her son, Todd Sharp; her daughter, Karen Ladyman and husband Mike; and her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Sartor (wife Cheyenne), Dillon Sharp, and Kaela Sharp. She also leaves behind many friends, specifically Lynn DePaul, who was her "partner in crime," as they spent their leisure time running the roads of Montgomery County in pursuit of the next shopping or dining adventure.
Education was both Rachel’s passion and life’s work. A lifelong learner, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University in just three years and later in life, went on to earn four master’s degrees. She devoted 30 years to the Spring Branch Independent School District, followed by another 10 years with the Calcasieu Parish School District in Lake Charles, Louisiana. After retiring, she settled in Walden in Montgomery, Texas to be closer to family.
Rachel was active in her community, volunteering with the Assistance League of Montgomery County and proudly serving as chairperson of the Special Outings Committee for the Ladies of Walden. She was a lover of animals, a devoted friend who never met a stranger, and a woman whose kindness and curiosity deeply touched everyone who knew her.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Care Partners at Worthington Manor for their compassionate support.
