Richard Whitfield Denn, Jr., lovingly known as “Dickey,” passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 82, surrounded by his family.
Richard was born on November 1, 1942, to Richard Whitfield “Whit” and Carrie Belle Denn. On July 24, 1965, he married the love of his life, Linda, and together they built a beautiful life and family over their 60 years of marriage.
Richard dedicated his life to education, serving as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal. He made a lasting impact on countless students in Montgomery ISD and beyond.
A faithful and active member of his Baptist church and choir, Richard found great joy in singing and listening to gospel music and old hymns. His deep love for Jesus and his family guided every part of his life. He took pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always sharing stories and encouragement. He especially enjoyed all conversations about history and football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Whit and Carrie Belle Denn, and his sisters, Mary Hays and Lavonne Dyess.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; his children Donna Hoke and husband Brian, Carrie Denn, and Darrin Denn and wife Amanda; son-in-law Tommy Hoke; grandchildren Cody Davis, Katherine Davis, Megan Jackson, Jimmy Hoke, Ally Denn, Mary Hoke, Sarah Hoke, and Joy Denn; and great-grandchildren Breanna Davis, Luna McDaniel and Oliver Jackson; and his sister Brenda Harris; along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Dacus Baptist Church, 5403 N Farm to Market 1486, Montgomery, TX 77356.
