Born on June 29, 1946, in Racine, Wisconsin, Dick was the oldest son of the late Henry B. Gement and Roma E. Gement. Known to many simply as “Dick,” he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating high school and served 18 months in Vietnam in the computer department.
After his military service, Dick went on to build a long and respected career, retiring from the Port of Houston as the Head of Systems and Controls after 23 years of dedicated service.
Retirement provided opportunities for travel, time with his grandchildren and later great grandchildren and the chance to enjoy his community making great friends at dominoes.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Donna Gement; his sons, Robert John Gement and Mark Allan (Bo) Gement; his brothers, Ted Gement and David (Jodi) Gement; and several beloved nieces, nephews, step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry; his mother, Roma; and his sister, Barbara Emerson.
