

Celebration of Life services for Bob Barton will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Conroe with Rev. John Singleton officiating. Bob was born August 14, 1936 in Hillsboro, Texas to B.J. and Nell Barton. He was raised in Dallas and Lamesa before moving to Houston in 1952, where he met Barbara Wiles, his wife to be. They met as neighbors at the age of 15 and 12. He graduated from Texas Christian University and married in 1960. He was employed with Arthur Young & Company as a CPA for 15 years in Atlanta, and then moved the family to Houston in 1977 where he finished his career with Transco Energy Co. as a Vice President. He began retirement and became a grandfather in 1992 and later built a home on Lake Conroe. Bob was a sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, boating, golfing and traveling. He was proud of his legacy which included his treasure of three beautiful daughters, three sons-in-law and 13 grandchildren. Bob served as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, medical lab courier and neighborhood civic association board member. He served as an elder and in many other capacities for First Presbyterian Church of Conroe. He was passionately devoted to his family and church. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Wiles Barton; daughter, Cathie Walling and son-in-law Jeff and their children: Aubrey, Anson, Aaron, Amie and Annmarie; daughter, Cindy Marcus and son-in-law Stuart and their children, Mason, Graham, Ellie and Olivia; daughter, Candi Archer and son-in-law Brian and their children, Corbin, Cami, Carly and Cydney. Bob, the oldest of five children is survived by Don Barton and wife Janice; Linda Fulhendorf and husband Arlen; Harry Barton, and Rick Barton and wife Sherri. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Mick Wiles and wife Jan as well as 9 nieces and nephews and their children and many cousins and dear friends. Bob will be remembers as an honest, loyal, generous and loving individual who had a deep love for God and his country. He was welcomed into the arms of the Lord as a good and faithful servant on April 30, where he will spend eternity.
