Robert Eric McGowan

Born and raised in Texas, Robert spent his early years hunting and fishing alongside his father, and attending camp Rio Vista during the summers. After graduating from Conroe High School, he attended Sam Houston State University where he majored in Political Science.

Robert’s career included work in security, sales, real estate, and hospitality management. He was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and patriotic pride. A talented cook, and a gifted storyteller, Robert had a natural ability to engage those around him. Robert enjoyed sports cars and dressing up for special events or dinners with family.

As a Christian, Robert maintained a strong faith in God and held dear the words of Joshua 1:9: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go”

He is survived by his father, Michael McGowan; mother, Melinda McGowan Schmermund and her husband Chuck Schmermund; sister, Madeleine (Molly) Aguirre; and niece, Sandra Aguirre, along with extended family and friends who will miss him deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas. The service is scheduled for January 15, 2026, starting at 2:00 pm. There will be a reception to follow.
