Rodger D. Solomon, surrounded by his wife and children, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at the age of 74, after a long battle with numerous health issues. Rodger was born on December 28, 1950, in Sugar Land Texas, the eldest child of Radis and Faye Solomon. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. After high school he enlisted as a paratrooper in the Texas Army National Guard where he served for six years. He then was employed as a car salesman for Dub Miller Ford in Fort Bend County and later owned a nursery and landscaping company in Sugar Land and Montgomery for many years. At the time of his death, he was employed by Solomon Electric. On April 17, 1971, Rodger married the love of his life ‘Tricia Perkins. They settled in Sugar Land and had two daughters, Tami and Tudi. In 1987 they relocated to Montgomery, Texas where he was able to enjoy his love for agriculture, raising farm animals, and growing vegetables. His hobbies were fishing, gardening, watching football, and flirting and cutting up with everyone he met. A devout Christian, he had a passionate love for God. He was a patient and loving father to his daughters. No matter how busy or tired he was, he always had time for them, and they were always trying to find new ways to make him laugh. Rodger was an exceptional grandfather and enjoyed taking his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to the river and swimming and fishing with them. He participated in the 4H program with his eldest grandson, Jared. His farm supplied goats to the Houston Livestock Show for their Agventure Program. For ten years, he shared his expertise serving on the goat committee for the Montgomery County Fair. He was well loved, and his sense of humor will be missed. He could really spin a yarn. He was always smiling and trying to make people happy and feel good about themselves. We will forever smile when we think of him.
Rodger was preceded in death by his father Radis Solomon and younger brother Edward Solomon. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, ‘Tricia Solomon, his mother Faye Solomon, brothers David and Jimmy Solomon, eldest daughter Tami Wickham, her husband Ken Wickham, youngest daughter Tudi Gale, her husband Anton Gale, grandsons Jared Wickham and Ethan Gale, granddaughter Alyssa Gale, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday August 7, 2025, at 3pm at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local food bank.
