

Roselyn Odette Staton was fondly known as many titles; daughter, sister, wife, aunt and grandmother. Born in Houston, Texas on July 12, 1925 to William and Betty Flynn, she passed peacefully on January 6, 2015. Roselyn grew up in Houston and attended Reagan High School. Her loving marriage To Bythel Butler Staton lasted 65 years. To this union five children were born: Bythel, Donald, Joan, John, and Robert. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, traveling and reading. As an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roselyn served as a Regent and District Deputy of the Catholic Daughter, Court #1884. After raising her children she attended college and began a career for the Children Nutrition Department in Conroe I.S.D. Roselyn held several offices in the local and regional Texas Association for School Nutrition and Foodservice Professional Organization. Roselyn is preceded in death by her parents: William and Betty; husband: Bythel Butler Staton; and granddaughter: Meredith Staton Gillespie. She is survived by her children: Joan Carr and husband David, Bythel William Staton and wire Elaine, Donald Staton and wife Tracy, John Staton and wife Inez, and Robert Staton; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters Betty Claire Thomas and Patricia Gideon. Visitation will be at Metcalf Funeral Directors from 5:00 to 8:00pm with Rosary beginning at 7:00pm. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe, Texas. The Rite of Committal will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
