Sam J. Hartnett was born on March 3, 1952, in Waco, Texas, to Samuel Joseph Hartnett and Naomi Lorene Hooks-Hartnett. He passed away on November 8, 2020, in Conroe, Texas. Sam had a personality that drew people towards him. He could always lift your spirits and you would walk away from him feeling good about yourself. He worked in a plywood plant, on oil rigs, until he finally found his calling at Cashner Funeral Home serving families as the sales manager for 26 years. He later worked as a sales manager at McNutt Funeral home and a sales and cemetery manager at Magnolia Cemetery. Sam was currently employed at Bentwater in Montgomery, where he still could engage with people. Sam and his wife, Carolyn attended Lonestar Cowboy Church in Montgomery, Texas with Pastor Randy Weaver.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two daughters, Sara Jane Hartnett and Kelsey Michelle Knepprath.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Carolyn Hartnett; daughters, Melissa Wright and Amy Stringer; sons, Sammy “Bubba” Hartnett, Jeffrey Richard, Joshua Richard and Jacob Richard; 21 grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many extended family and friends.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, beginning at 11:00am at Casher Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas, with graveside immediately following in Garden Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Hartnett, Brad Stringer, Wayne Wright, Justin Wright, Jeffery Richard, Josh Richard and Jake Richard.
