

Tommy Ray Smith, age 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 12, 2022. Tom was born in Norfolk, Virginia on December 28, 1947 to Paul and Allie Smith. He moved to Aurora, North Carolina when he was 7, and was raised by his maternal grandparents, Charlie Thomas and Mamie Swindell. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1966 and moved to Texas in 1968, where he went to work for Lubrizol as an operator. He met the love of his life , Sharron, in 1973 and they were soon married. Their family was complete with the addition of their two children Shannon Leigh and Sean Paul, who they raised in Deer Park.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharron; his daughter Shannon (Eric) and son Sean (Amy); grandkids Abby, Zachary, Eliam, Olivia, Mollie and Audrey. He is also survived by brother Robert Jones (Wendy); mother-in-law DeLanie Moore; sisters-in-law Gail (Ralph) Ward and Beverly (Manson) Blackwell; brother-in-law Eddie Fleming; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom had a love of photography, motorcycles, fast cars, and most of all his family. His love of motorcycles was so deep, he brought three boxes of motorcycle parts to their marriage and built a 1967 Harley Sportster in their first apartment. The family took many trips over the years making wonderful memories together. He had many close friends at Lubrizol that he worked with for many years until his retirement in 2005. He was proud of the adults his children had become and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Tom will be dearly missed by those that knew him.
Services will be held on Monday, March 21st at Magnolia’s First Baptist Church, 18525 N. 6th Street, Magnolia, Texas 77353. Visitation will be from 10 am – 11 am with the service starting at 11 am.
