Victor Hugo Williams was born at home in Cardwell, MO on August 4, 1925. When he enlisted in the Navy at age 17 it was discovered the country Doctor had recorded his birthdate as August 5, 1925 when he returned to town the next day. Upon enlisting he said he was asked by his drill sergeant “Soldier, don’t you know when your birthday is?” He had never seen his birth certificate and told that story for years!
Vic was the oldest of 7 born to Lee and Dessie Williams. He grew up on a farm in Success, Arkansas. Vic was a career military man, first in the Navy as a medic in the pacific during WWII, a medic in Korea, and a medic in the Air Force during Vietnam. He retired a Chief Master Sergeant from the USAF. He then pursued a second career in pharmaceutical sales. After he finally retired they moved to Conroe, TX to be close to family and lived there 32 years. He and Alene were active members of 1st Baptist Church of Conroe, TX.
He also served on the Lazy River Improvement District Board for 19 years in his Forest Hills neighborhood.
They moved to Kingwood, TX in 2021.
Vic was extremely proud of his decades of service to his country, but even that is overshadowed by the pride and love he had for his family. He was a loving son, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. His faith in God and love for his family were palpable a mile away. In 2022 Vic was honored to have his military story published in the book, A Medic in Three Wars by Linmarie Garsee. He also had the privilege to fly with the Houston Honor Flight as it took fellow veterans to see their monuments from each war. It was a trip of a lifetime.
Vic is survived by his wife, Alene, daughter, Vicki & husband Clark , daughter in law Marvina, sisters Bonnie & Laverne, grandchildren Kyle & wife Kristen, Jared & wife Meagan, Tai , two great grandchildren Kensington and Knox as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vic passed just weeks shy of his 98th birthday of natural causes. He touched so many lives in his time on Earth, he will never be forgotten. He always said, “ I love my God, I love my country and I love my family and I am so honored to have been able to serve them all”
His death was preceded by the early loss of his granddaughters Lyndsi, Katy and Sutton, his son Larry, and his siblings Gerry, Betty, Johnny and Jerry.
