Virgie Louise Martin Copley Rice passed away in her sleep November 4, 2014, in Kilgore, Texas. She was born March 20, 1929, to Dewey and Virgie Mae Needham Martin, in Pelly, Texas. Her father worked for the Humble Oil Company and moved the family to Conroe Texas during the oil boom. Virgie Louise was a woman of faith and loved her family. She had many hobbies but was best known for her seamstress abilities. On December 24, 1953, she married Garvey Rice, of Conroe Texas. Garvey also worked for the Humble Oil Company and they started their life’s journey together, moving several times and spending time in Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas. Moving back to Texas they settled in Kilgore where Garvey and Virgie Louise made their final home before they retired. Through their adventures they had blended families but they both taught that family was a bonding of love and there was no room for the word "step" or "half" did not apply to family. Virgie Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a true friend to all who knew her. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Garvey and daughters in law (though she could not remember the "in law part) Tamera Case Rice, and Jo Ann Rice. She is survived by sons; Garvey Eugene Rice and wife Pat, Robert Gordon Copley and wife Linda, Glenn Martin Copley and wife Wanda, Garry Lynn Rice and wife Ellen, Grady Wayne Rice and wife Amy; daughter, Robbie June Weisner and husband Buddy; sister, Virginia Martin Mims; brother, Dewey Lee Martin and wife Alma; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
