
Funeral services for William Holt Crosby, Sr will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville with Rev. Scott A. Dornbush officiating. Entombment will follow at 3:00pm in the Chapel in the Park Mausoleum of Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. William Holt Crosby, Sr, 80, passed away on January 23, 2011. He was born October 18, 1930 to Travis Audley Crosby and Inez Winfrey Crosby in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Doolan; brother, Travis (Buddy) Crosby and Robert (Bob) Crosby. He attended Stephen F. Austin high School and University of Houston on a baseball scholarship. He enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict in Tripili, North Africa. He became a very successful businessman and a loving family man. He married Irene Benson Crosby, May 28, 1955 in Jackson, Mississippi. They had three children, William H. Crosby, Jr and wife, DeaAnn, Cheryl L. Crosby and fiancé Silvio and Steven Benson Crosby and wife Jenifer. They have eleven grandchildren; Chaille Laws and husband Kevin, Stephanie Crosby and fiancé Dennis, Heather Kotelenets and husband Sasha, Hannah Crosby, Sarah Roy and husband Ryan, Beth Lonero, Melanie Lonero, Joshua Crosby and fiancé, Hannah, Jessica Crosby, Julie Crosby, Jonathan Crosby and two great grandchildren, Noelle and Holt Laws. Bill and Irene retired to Elkins Lake in 1993 where he was very active in the Community, First United Methodist Church and Men’s Golf Association. He was President of the Elkins Lake Men’s Gold Association and was a communion Steward for five years. Bill loved his family, who remained by his side until the end. He will be greatly missed. He will be remembered by those who knew him because he used his wisdom and humor to encourage and motivated others to do their best.
